At 3 AM on Saturday morning, we woke up, grabbed our gear, and set out for the Whittaker Point trailhead, an hour’s drive away. With only the glow of our headlamps to guide us, we began the 1.25-hour hike in the dark. Of course, no adventure is complete without a little unexpected detour—the boys took a wrong turn, leading to some quick backtracking. Even with the mishap, we still reached the top just in time to witness the most ethereal, foggy sunrise.

Vows Above the Clouds

Before the first light of day crept through the mist, Jackson and Rebecca changed into their wedding attire. The wind and cold tested their endurance, but we came prepared. With a blanket and hand warmers at the ready, we took short breaks every ten minutes or so to keep Rebecca warm. Through the chill, their joy and excitement never wavered. They embraced the adventure, the wildness of it all, and the sacredness of the moment.

We stood in awe, not only of their love but of the masterpiece of God’s creation surrounding us. To celebrate, the newlyweds went to enjoy their first breakfast as a married couple at Granny’s Kitchen, indulging in some well-earned comfort food after their incredible morning adventure.
