Some elopement days feel big and adventurous. Others feel slow, grounded, and deeply sweet. Nici and Daniel’s elopement in Hot Springs, Arkansas was the kind of day that reminded me why I love photographing intimate, intentional weddings — the kind where life unfolds naturally and love leads the timeline.

We started the day exactly how it should begin: slow and chill at their VRBO tucked along Lake Hamilton. With their baby girl, Everly, part of the day, there was no rushing — just coffee, quiet moments, and letting Everly nap while Nici and Daniel eased into the morning.
As they got ready, I captured the little details that tell the fuller story — soft light pouring through the windows, personal touches, and the calm that filled the space. It was peaceful and unhurried, the kind of morning that makes an elopement feel less like an event and more like real life, beautifully documented.

Before heading out, the whole crew grabbed pizza to fuel up — because honestly, pizza before an elopement should be mandatory. Once everyone was fed and layered up, Nici and Daniel stepped outside for their first look along the shore of Lake Hamilton.
It was quiet, intimate, and full of emotion — the kind of moment that doesn’t need an audience to be meaningful. Just the two of them, the lake, and the beginning of the day they’d remember forever.

From there, we hopped in the car and headed to Rick’s Pond. Fall had fully shown up, and the pond reflected the colors around us like a mirror. We wandered the area together, laughing, exploring, and capturing some truly beautiful, peaceful images.
Somewhere along the way, we also discovered that Daniel is slightly afraid of heights — which made for a few good laughs and a reminder that elopement days don’t have to be perfect to be unforgettable.

After Rick’s Pond, we headed back to the VRBO to pick up the rest of the crew before making our way up Hot Springs Mountain for the ceremony. The drive wound through the city and up curving roads, building anticipation with every turn.
Originally, we had planned for a different ceremony location — but due to a government shutdown, the road to that spot was closed. Thankfully, I had scouted the area the day before and found a quiet, tucked‑away nook with an opening through the trees that overlooked the entire city of Hot Springs.
It turned out to be even better than the original plan.

Nici and Daniel exchanged vows with sweeping views of the city below — surrounded by family, fall air, and so much intention. After the ceremony, they popped champagne and took a few family photos, soaking in the joy of the moment.
Then, we did something I always love: we asked their guests to give them a little space.
Just Nici and Daniel.
They shared a private first dance, followed by a few moments of silence and solitude — standing hand in hand, fully present as they stepped into this new season of life together.

To end the night, I asked if ice cream sounded like the right move — and of course, it did. While Nici and Daniel got Everly ready for bed, I ran out to grab ice cream.
We finished the night back at the VRBO, celebrating in comfy pajamas, savoring sweetness in every sense of the word. And Everly was very excited because it was her very first time having ice cream!

Nici and Daniel’s Hot Springs elopement was proof that your wedding day doesn’t have to be rushed, rigid, or overproduced. It can be slow. It can include your baby. It can involve pizza, fall reflections, last‑minute plan changes, ice cream, and pajamas.
And it can still be deeply meaningful.
