An Oregon Coast location for wildly romantic, tucked-away moments
If you’re dreaming of an Oregon Coast elopement that feels adventurous, intimate, and a little bit hidden… Hug Point might be exactly what you’re looking for.
Just south of Cannon Beach, this spot feels like stepping into a secret world—one where cliffs wrap around you, waterfalls spill onto the sand, and caves open up like something out of a storybook.
It’s playful. It’s moody. It’s wildly beautiful.
And honestly? It’s one of my favorite places to photograph couples who just want to explore together.

Hug Point is one of those places that gives you so much variety without requiring a long hike or complicated logistics.
From the parking lot, it’s a short walk through the trees and down a steep little earth staircase to the beach. Nothing crazy—but enough to make it feel like you’ve tucked away into something special.
Once you hit the sand, though… that’s where the magic really begins. You can wander as little or as far as you want. And the more you explore, the more it unfolds.
This isn’t just a “pretty beach.” It’s layers of texture, movement, and hidden corners that make your elopement feel like an experience—not just a location.
Tucked into the sandstone cliffs are these incredible caves carved out by years of crashing waves. At low tide, you can walk right into them—some are shallow and glowing with reflected light, others feel deep and moody. They’re perfect for those quiet, tucked-away moments.

Yes… an actual waterfall… on the beach. A seasonal waterfall spills straight off the cliff and onto the sand before flowing into the ocean. It’s one of the most unique ceremony backdrops on the Oregon Coast—and it feels especially magical after rain or in the cooler months.

Towering cliffs, textured sandstone, scattered rock formations—it all creates this dramatic, almost cinematic landscape. At low tide, you can walk around the headland and access even more hidden areas, including additional caves and secluded stretches of beach.

When the ocean pulls back, it leaves behind little pockets of life—tide pools filled with starfish, anemones, and tiny details that make your gallery feel rich and alive.

I cannot stress this enough—your entire experience at Hug Point depends on the tide.
At high tide, a lot of the best areas (caves, waterfall, hidden beach) are completely inaccessible—and you can even get stranded if you go too far.
Make sure to check the tide table before your visit: HERE.
Very little—which is part of what makes this spot so special.
You can keep things super relaxed or spend hours exploring caves, cliffs, and hidden corners.
The closest major airport is:
From there, you’ll drive out to the coast (and honestly… it’s part of the experience).

Most couples stay in or around Cannon Beach since it’s only about 5–10 minutes away.
This gives you:
Air BnBs
Hotels/Inns
One of my favorite things about Hug Point is how close it is to other iconic spots.
Most of my couples don’t just stay in one place—we build a full, intentional day around multiple locations.
Within ~30 minutes, you have:
Hug Point is perfect for exploring + portraits, and then we can pair it with a second location for variety.
Special note about cell service: You will likely lose cell service as you drive out to Hug Point, so I always recommend downloading directions ahead of time, screenshotting your tide chart, and downloading trail maps.

Vendors who get the vision: intimate, intentional, and a little adventurous
Planning an elopement on the Oregon Coast can feel overwhelming if you don’t know where to start—but having the right vendors makes everything feel easy, supported, and honestly… way more fun. These are vendors my photographer friends and I trust (or align with your kind of day): people who value experience over production and know how to work with the wild, moody coast.
These artists are experienced with coastal weather (wind, mist, all of it) and create looks that feel elevated but still like you.
Many Oregon Coast HMUAs travel, which is huge since most elopement locations are remote.
Think organic, movement, and designs that feel like they belong in the landscape—not competing with it.
These florists specialize in elopements and can create anything from a simple bouquet to a windswept coastal installation.
You can absolutely have a friend officiate—but if you want someone experienced, these are great options:
Many officiants on the coast are super flexible—some even help guide your ceremony so it feels personal and not scripted.
Elopements don’t need a full catering setup—but having intentional food adds so much to the experience.
Some great options:
These range from elevated picnic setups to full custom meals. Or keep it simple: grab takeout from a local spot in Cannon Beach and have a cozy beach picnic!
You don’t need a cake—but it’s such a sweet touch (literally).
Options I love:
Pro tip: something easy to transport + cut on the beach is always best.
