1. Pick your location. Cappadocia offers a dreamlike landscape filled with fairy chimneys, hidden valleys, ancient cave churches, and sweeping vistas. Whether you’re saying your vows in a secluded canyon, on a panoramic overlook at sunrise, or beside a centuries-old stone chapel, choose a spot that reflects your love story. Be sure to consider any permit requirements, local customs, or seasonal weather patterns—especially the windy mornings that affect balloon flights!
2. Elope on a weekday and plan for the season. Weekdays mean fewer tourists at popular spots like Love Valley or the Göreme viewpoints, giving you a more peaceful and intimate experience. Consider the season—spring fills the valleys with wildflowers and mild breezes, summer brings golden light and clear skies (perfect for sunrise balloon views), autumn offers crisp air and glowing landscapes, and winter dusts the fairy chimneys in snow, turning Cappadocia into a true winter wonderland.
3. Get your marriage license, officiant, and witnesses. If you plan to legally marry in Cappadocia, you’ll need to apply through the local municipality (Belediye) and provide translated and notarized documents—typically passports, birth certificates, and a health report. A civil ceremony with a government-approved officiant and two witnesses is required. Because the process can be complex for foreigners, many couples choose to legally marry in their home country first and celebrate their elopement in Cappadocia as their true wedding day—focused on meaning, beauty, and just the two of you.
