Perched above the Ozark Mountains, the famous rock outcropping offers sweeping forested views, dramatic cliffs, and a feeling of being tucked away in the wilderness. The hike to the crag makes reaching the overlook part of the experience, making this a beautiful choice for couples who want their wedding day to be less about tradition and more about exploring somewhere unforgettable together.
WHITE ROCK MOUNTAIN
White Rock Mountain is one of Arkansas’ hidden gems, offering sweeping views over the Ozark Mountains from its dramatic sandstone bluffs. PINNACLE MOUNTAIN
Pinnacle Mountain is one of Arkansas’ most recognizable landmarks, rising more than 750 feet above the Arkansas River Valley with its distinctive twin-peaked summit. Just outside Little Rock, Pinnacle Mountain State Park offers sweeping views of the river, Lake Maumelle, and surrounding Ouachita Mountains. DEVIL'S DEN
Devil’s Den State Park is a beautiful Ozark destination where rugged sandstone cliffs, lush forests, caves, waterfalls, and peaceful mountain scenery create an unforgettable backdrop for your elopement. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the park is one of Arkansas’ best-preserved examples of CCC craftsmanship and offers more than 2,500 acres to explore. As an intentional elopement photographer and planner, my goal is to make sure your wedding day feels effortless, authentic, and completely centered around your love story. If you are holding an elopement ceremony or taking photos inside of any national or state park, you will need to have a NPS pass to enter the park. I always recommend purchasing the America the Beautiful pass beforehand online, as it has the most diversity for adventurous couples (and the best deal!).
Permits for Arkansas elopements vary depending on your location. Some locations may allow a simple, intimate ceremony without a permit, while others require special authorization. For example, Buffalo National River requires a Special Use Permit for all weddings, including intimate ceremonies. Because requirements can vary by location, it’s important to check with the specific land manager before planning your ceremony. I’ll help you determine whether a permit is needed and assist with the process so you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Most locations for Arkansas elopements don't have a maximum number for group size. However, to be considered an elopement, there must be no more than 15 guests including all vendors. I always help my couples choose locations that accomodate any special guests.

NAVIGATING YOUR ARKANSAS MARRIAGE LICENSE
Getting legally married in Arkansas is relatively simple, even if you're traveling from out of state. You do not have to be an Arkansas resident to obtain a marriage license, and the license can be used anywhere in the state. There is also no waiting period for adults, so you can get your license and get married without having to build extra waiting days into your trip. Your license is valid for 60 days from the date it is issued.
How to obtain your license:
- Both of you must appear together at a County Clerk's Office to apply.
- Bring a valid government-issued photo ID showing your correct name and date of birth, such as a driver's license or passport.
- You'll need to provide your Social Security number.
- The marriage license fee is $60. Payment methods vary by county, so check with your chosen County Clerk's Office before you go.
- No blood test is required.
- Your license is valid for 60 days, so your ceremony must take place within that window.
For your ceremony:
You'll need an authorized officiant to solemnize your marriage, but Arkansas does not require witnesses. After your ceremony, the completed marriage license must be returned to the County Clerk's Office where it was issued for recording.
Pro Tip: Many of my couples choose to get legally married at home and then celebrate their official marriage day in Arkansas by exchanging vows, reading letters, or having a meaningful ceremony together. This can take some of the logistical pressure off your travel timeline and allow you to focus entirely on your elopement experience. But if getting legally married in Arkansas on your elopement day is important to you, I'm happy to help you plan around the necessary logistics. Either way, I'll be here to guide you through the process and make it as seamless as possible!
