Oregon really shows off when it comes to elopement locations. Whether you’re dreaming of salty coastal cliffs, quiet moss-covered forests, or soft desert hills glowing at sunset, this state offers the kind of natural beauty that invites you to slow down, breathe deep, and focus on what matters most—your love and the covenant you’re making.
I’ve had the honor of photographing so many couples who chose to skip the production and create a day that felt truly like them. If you’re planning an Oregon elopement and wondering where to begin, here are 11 of my favorite spots—each one perfect for a slow, intentional, and wildly beautiful celebration.
For windswept, golden hour magic
Cape Kiwanda feels like the Oregon Coast’s wild child. Towering golden cliffs, rugged tidepools, and the kind of wind that turns your dress into poetry. If you want those quiet, barefoot-in-the-sand moments followed by a sunset that sets the whole coast aglow—this is it.
Why I love it: It’s wild, free, and cinematic without trying. Perfect for playful couples and slow, golden portraits.
Heads up: A permit might be needed depending on your setup or group size.
For moody, forest-by-the-sea energy
This stretch of the southern Oregon coast feels like something out of a dream. Misty cliffs, dramatic sea stacks, and moss-covered forests that lead right up to the ocean’s edge. If you’re craving that PNW mood—this is it.
Why I love it: It’s rugged and quiet and filled with hidden spots that feel sacred.
Pro tip: Go at sunrise or sunset for the best light and privacy. Permits are sometimes needed here, depending on the exact spot.

For waterfalls, wildflowers, and wide-open views
Just outside of Portland, this area is full of variety—waterfalls, wildflower meadows, river overlooks, and towering cliffs. The trails are dreamy and the light through the trees? Unreal. It’s one of the most versatile and accessible elopement spots in Oregon.
Why I love it: So much variety in a small area—you can start the day in the forest and end it on a cliff.
Keep in mind: Some spots like Multnomah Falls are heavily trafficked and require permits or timed entry.
For soft desert light and something totally different
The Painted Hills look like something out of a watercolor painting. If you’re drawn to quiet, wide-open places and golden tones, this spot feels like another world. It’s perfect for couples who want a peaceful, earthy ceremony that’s a little off the beaten path.
Why I love it: Warm, dreamy light and a landscape that feels sacred and still.
Permit tip: You’ll need one for a ceremony here—easy to apply for through the BLM.
For that iconic coastal elopement with a relaxed feel
If you’ve been dreaming of a barefoot ceremony by the sea, with Haystack Rock in the background and your dress blowing in the breeze—this is your place. It’s popular, but for good reason. And with the right timing (hello, weekday sunrise), it can feel surprisingly intimate.
Why I love it: It’s classic, relaxed, and stunningly beautiful.
Good to know: Permits may be needed if you plan to set anything up or bring guests.
For alpine lakes, wildflowers, and cozy cabin vibes
Mount Hood has so much to offer—mirror-like lakes, wildflower meadows, mountain overlooks, and cozy trails through tall pines. Whether you’re hiking in or just driving up to a scenic overlook, this area is perfect for couples who want mountain magic without the crowds.
Why I love it: It’s peaceful, diverse, and has plenty of quiet corners to make your own.
Permits: Often required for ceremonies or photography—reach out to a local ranger station to confirm.
For lush forest trails and waterfalls you can walk behind
Ten waterfalls. Mossy trails. That rich green Oregon forest glow. Silver Falls feels like a real-life fairytale, and the short hikes here lead to some seriously magical spots. It’s one of the most accessible ways to have a waterfall elopement in Oregon.
Why I love it: Easy to access, wildly photogenic, and feels like a hidden gem if you time it right.
Permits: Required—just reach out to the park office for details.
For cinematic, windswept vibes and golden tones
Yes, Oregon has dunes—and they’re absolutely breathtaking. If you want something unique and minimalistic, the dunes offer soft light, gorgeous textures, and the kind of openness that just makes you breathe deeper.
Why I love it: It’s quiet, surreal, and lets your connection be the focus.
Logistics: Permits are usually required for ceremonies or photography sessions here.
For turquoise water and deep forest serenity
Opal Creek is one of those places that feels sacred. The water here is crystal clear and the forest is thick with old growth. It’s a more remote option, but if you’re looking for solitude, beauty, and a place that feels untouched—this is worth the effort.
Why I love it: It’s peaceful, magical, and perfect for couples who want a quiet escape.
Note: Access and permitting can vary depending on restoration efforts—always double-check before you go.
For a cliffside hike and views you’ll never forget
God’s Thumb is one of those hidden gems that rewards a little effort. The hike to the top isn’t too intense, but it leads to one of the most stunning views on the Oregon Coast. It’s quiet, dramatic, and feels like the edge of the world—in the best way.
Why I love it: It’s a true adventure elopement spot, with big payoff and tons of privacy.
Heads up: Conditions can change with weather—check trail updates ahead of time.
For alpine lakes, lava fields, and sun-drenched mountain trails
The Bend area is full of wildly diverse beauty—snow-dusted peaks, lava rock trails, alpine lakes, and warm high desert light. The Deschutes National Forest offers some of the most stunning backdrops in Oregon, especially if you’re dreaming of a mountain elopement that still feels laid back and low-key.
There are so many options here: paddleboarding on Sparks Lake, hiking near South Sister, walking through lava fields at sunset, or tucking into a forest grove for your vows. The best part? Even with all this variety, you’ll still find peaceful, tucked-away spots where it’s just you two and the wild.
Why I love it: It’s incredibly diverse—lake, forest, desert, and volcano views all in one place. Plus, the light here is warm and golden, especially in the evenings.
What to know: Some spots may require forest permits or wilderness access passes. It’s also super dog-friendly if you want to bring your pup along for the adventure!
The truth is—there’s no “best” location. The best spot is the one that feels most like you two. One that lets you breathe deep, stay present, and soak up the wonder of what you’re stepping into.
When you work with me, I’m here for more than just documenting the day. I’ll help you find the perfect location, walk you through any necessary permits, plan your timeline, and create space for you to be fully yourselves. No pressure. No performance. Just presence, beauty, and a whole lot of love.
