Chris and Chloe’s Smithville Lake adventure is the reason why I am a documentary style photographer.
It was the perfect summer evening in Missouri, warm enough to run straight into the water without a second thought. These two showed up ready to play, and from the moment we started, it was pure energy and laughter. They splashed, spun each other around, and didn’t care one bit about getting completely soaked in their summer clothes. Every movement felt carefree and full of joy—exactly the kind of energy that makes a session unforgettable.
Smithville Lake was the perfect backdrop for their adventurous vibe. The soft summer light reflected off the water while they ran along the shoreline, and once they were knee-deep in the lake, it turned into a scene that felt straight out of a nostalgic summer memory. It wasn’t about posing perfectly or keeping clean—it was about leaning into the moment, letting loose, and celebrating the way they love each other.
Chris and Chloe’s session is the best reminder that your photos don’t have to look a certain way to be beautiful. Sometimes, the most meaningful images come from simply playing, laughing, and letting yourselves get a little messy.
