If you’re dreaming of an intimate Colorado elopement at a hidden gem location surrounded by dramatic cliffs, sweeping canyon views, and your closest loved ones, Kenny and Daria’s day at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is a perfect example of how magical — and meaningful — an elopement can be.
Their celebration was the perfect blend of adventure, family, and heartfelt moments… the kind of wedding day that reminds you what matters most.

Kenny and Daria originally planned their elopement for May, but in July a wildfire broke out on the South Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. And that South Rim was exactly where we had planned their entire elopement adventure.
At first, it looked like we might need to pivot completely to a new location. Then, as fire crews worked and conditions changed, we considered switching to the North Rim. For several weeks, I stayed in contact with the National Park Service, checking on access, closures, and safety so that Kenny and Daria didn’t have to carry that stress.
Finally — about three weeks before the elopement — we got the official green light: the South Rim would reopen and we could move forward with their original plan. What a relief!
Moments like this are one of the reasons I take so much pride in what I do. My goal is always to remove as much stress as possible from my couples, handle the logistics, watch the conditions, and create backup plans so they can simply enjoy the magic of their day. I’m 100% committed to giving every couple a smooth, intentional, and truly unforgettable elopement experience from booking to final gallery delivery.

The morning began at a cozy mountain Airbnb, tucked among pines with views that made you slow down and breathe. Kenny and Daria got ready surrounded by immediate family, the atmosphere quiet and full of anticipation.

Our first stop inside the Black Canyon of the Gunnison was a quiet overlook where the canyon opened up behind us. Daria shared a tender first look with her dad, followed by a first look with Kenny — both filled with emotion, laughter, and the sweetest quiet moments.
The canyon was the perfect backdrop for a morning that already felt sacred.

We then made our way to a second overlook for their ceremony — a spot with sweeping views that made the whole world feel still. With family gathered close, Kenny and Daria exchanged vows that echoed softly across the canyon walls.
After the ceremony, we captured family portraits before the group headed back to their Airbnb. That gave Kenny and Daria the chance to stay with me in the park for more exploring and more portraits as newlyweds.

As the sun began to set, we wandered deeper into the park. The canyon turned gold, then blue, then a deep, moody gray — giving us such a beautiful range of light. We stopped at several overlooks, taking in the cliffs and textures that make the South Rim so unique.
Once the sun dipped completely, I drove them back to the Airbnb where the night ended in the coziest way: gluten-free pasta with family and cutting their wedding cake made by Love at First Bite.

The next day, I picked up Kenny, Daria, and their kids for a bonus adventure in Telluride. We rode the free mountain gondola — easily one of the most iconic Telluride experiences — and found a private nook among the mountains where the kids skipped rocks and we captured a few final portraits.
It was relaxed, beautiful, and the perfect way to close out their Colorado elopement week.

What stood out most about Kenny and Daria’s elopement was how deeply they valued including family. Every moment felt meaningful because it was shared with the people who will continue to cheer them on for the rest of their marriage.
Their celebration was a reminder that elopements aren’t about running away — they’re about designing a wedding day that reflects what really matters.

Whether you’re dreaming of canyon overlooks, mountain towns like Telluride, or a full weekend of family-centered celebration, the Black Canyon is an unforgettable place to say “I do.”
